Candela Technologies offers pre-configured LANforge systems to simplify your choices. You may choose to load LANforge-FIRE and/or LANforge-ICE software on your existing hardware and purchase the required software licenses. This can be an economical way to create a test environment suited to your particular needs, but it cannot compare with the ease-of-use of pre-configured LANforge hardware delivered to your door!

LANforge license fees are based on the number of ports, speed of those ports, and the number of machines. The minimum order is two port licenses and additional port licenses are sold at a discount.

Supported Network Adapters (NICs)

Candela suggests Intel Pro/1000 and Intel 10 Gbps chipset ethernet adapters for most configurations. In most cases, there is no additional cost for the ethernet hardware. The purchase of a chassis and software licenses include the cost of the NICs. In certain cases, such as Fiber ethernet NICs, there will be an additional charge.

LF0202 Mid-Range 6-port Appliance

The LF0202 is a small appliance with no fans or moving parts. Its dimensions are 11 x 6 x 1.6 inches and it weighs 3.3 pounds. The system includes a dual-core 1.66 Atom processor, 2 GB RAM, and a 16GB" SSD drive. It has 6 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces, two supporting Ethernet bypass (fail open for network emulation). One port will be used for management. The system is powered by an external DC power supply brick (included). If required, the unit has a serial console for initial configuration, and it is expected that the user will install the LANforge GUI on their own laptop or desktop to manage the LANforge system. Alternatively, the system is able to support remote desktop. It is possible to manage the system over the serial console using the Command Line Interface if required. The operating system is 32-bit Fedora Linux.

The LF0202 is perfect for LANforge ICE WAN emulations up to 500 Mbps, and also traffic generation at up to 700 Mbps (full duplex) on two ports. The system supports other features such as VoIP as well.

LF0203 WiFi Appliance

The LF0203 is a small appliance with no fans or moving parts. Its dimensions are 11 x 7.5 x 2.5 inches and it weighs 5.7 pounds. The system includes a dual-core 1.66 Atom processor, 2 GB RAM, and a 16GB" SSD drive. It has 2 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces and a spare slot that normally includes a Wireless NIC. One port is normally used for remote management, but the system supports monitor keyboard and mouse and can be managed directly if desired. The system is powered by an external DC power supply brick (included). If required, the unit has a serial console for initial configuration. The operating system is 32-bit Fedora Linux.

The LF0203 is perfect for LANforge WiFIRE, and may be used for wired traffic generation. VOIP and other features are supported as well.

LF0311 Powerful WiFi Appliance

The LF0311 is a small appliance with no fans or moving parts. Its dimensions are 11 x 3 x 3 inches and it weighs 8 pounds. The system includes a quad-core Intel i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, and a 30+GB SSD drive. It has 2 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces and a spare slot that normally includes a Wireless or Ethernet NIC. One port is normally used for remote management, but the system supports monitor keyboard and mouse and can be managed directly if desired. The system is powered by an external DC power supply brick (included). If required, the unit has a serial console for initial configuration. The operating system is 64-bit Fedora Linux.

The LF0311 is perfect for LANforge WiFIRE, and may be used for wired traffic generation. VOIP and other features are supported as well.

LF0302 Dual-Core 6 Gbps class Appliance

The LF0302 is a relatively small appliance with a single, quiet fan and server class performance through a PCIe x8 slot. Its dimensions are 7.68 x 10.5 x 4 inches, and it weighs about 15 pounds. The system includes an Intel i7 M-620 2.66Ghz CPU, 8 GB RAM, 40+ GB laptop hard-drive or solid state drive, two built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces and one PCI-e slot that can accommodate a 1, 2, 4 or 6 port 10/100/1000 NIC or a dual 10 Gigabit NIC. The system is powered by an external DC power supply brick (included), and can also run off of a range of other DC voltages. The unit supports VGA and keyboard/mouse for initial configuration, and the user may also manage the system remotely using the LANforge GUI. The operating system is based on Fedora Linux for easy configuration.

The LF0302 is perfect for gigabit LANforge-ICE WAN emulations and up to 6 ports of traffic generation. Total throughput of the system backplane will be around 9 Gbps, depending on application. The system supports other features such as WiFi and VoIP as well.

LF1000 Economy Data Generator

The LF1000 is a 1U (1 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch (wide) frame. It is only 15 inches deep. It will come with at least 256MB RAM and a 1.8 GHz or better Intel processor. It can support one add-in card The LF1000 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as a two built-in 10/100 ethernet network interfaces. The LF1000 looks similar to the LF1002 below.

LF1001 Mid-Range Data Generator

The LF1001 is a 1U (1 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch (wide) frame. It is only 15 inches deep. It will come with at least 512MB RAM and a 2.8 GHz P-IV processor or better. It supports one add-in card  The LF1001 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as a two built-in 10/100/1000 ethernet network interfaces. The LF1000 looks similar to the LF1002 below.

LF1002 Multi-Core Data Generator

The LF1002 is a 1U (1 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch (wide) frame. It is 15-inches deep. This system supports a multi-core processor with up to 4 cores and has at least 2 GB RAM. It supports one add-in card  The LF1002 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as two built-in 10/100/1000 ethernet network interfaces.

LF1003 Multi-Core Data Generator (6+ GB RAM)

The LF1003 is a 1U (1 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch (wide) frame. It is 14-inches deep. This system supports single multi-core processors with up to 6 cores and has 6+ GB RAM and a 64-bit OS to take advantage of the extra RAM. It supports a single add-in card.  The LF1003 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as two built-in 10/100/1000 ethernet network interfaces.

LF1004 Multi-Core Data Generator

The LF1004 is a 1U (1 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch (wide) frame. It is 26-inches deep. This system supports dual multi-core processors with up to 8 cores and has at least 4 GB RAM. It can support three add-in cards  The LF1004 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as two built-in 10/100/1000 ethernet network interfaces.

LF1011 Data Generator

The LF1011 is a Multi-Core 2U (2 Rack Unit) shelf that fits into a standard 19 inch wide frame. It has multi-core processor with at least 4 cores and 12+ GB of RAM. It can support up to six (6) half-height NICs, but only four of them will run at high speeds. With four 4-port NICs, this gives sixteen (16) high-speed ports. Other port combinations, including 10G and wifi NICs are available. The LF1011 has Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor ports, as well as a 10/100/1000 Ethernet network interface used for management of the unit.

LF1016 Mid-Range Data Generator/Management Machine

The LF1016 is a portable small-form-factor machine perfect for demo systems and aesthetic installations. These machines are powerful, and yet run very quiet and are very presentable. The LF1016 will have at least 1 GB of RAM and a 3.0 GHz Pentium-4 processor. It can support at least one additional network card. The LF1016 has Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor ports, as well as a 10/100 ethernet network interface used for management of the unit.

LF1500 Laptop: Data Generator/Controller/GUI

SW1002 LANforge VoIP/RTP Software-only License

Each license can be used to support a single call. A minimum order of 10 licenses may apply. VoIP connections can be made simultaneously with other LANforge-FIRE traffic generation protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP and FTP. At least one SW1000 or SW1001 license will be needed for each LANforge machine running VoIP/RTP.

SW1003 LANforge-FIRE Voice Quality PESQ Server License

A PESQ Server License is required for each machine on which you wish to run a PESQ server. A single Voice Quality PESQ server can be used by any number of LANforge machines, but in general it cannot handle more than about 15 active calls requesting PESQ services at any given time (this is due to hardware limitations). The PESQ server generates additional data to the PESQ score including MOS-LQO.

SW1005 LANforge-FIRE: Armageddon Software-only License (100 Mbps)

This license is for use with 10/100 (100 Mbps) or slower speed interfaces. If you wish to utilize the Armageddon accelerated traffic generation feature, you must purchase an additional software license for each Armageddon connection you wish to run simultaneously.

SW1006 LANforge-FIRE: Armageddon Software-only License (1000 Mbps)

This license is for use with Gigabit (1000 Mbps) speed interfaces. If you wish to utilize the Armageddon accelerated traffic generation feature, you must purchase an additional software license for each Armageddon connection you wish to run simultaneously.

SW1007 LANforge-FIRE: Armageddon Software-only License (10 Gbps)

This license is for use with ten Gigabit (10 Gbps) speed interfaces. If you wish to utilize the Armageddon accelerated traffic generation feature, you must purchase an additional software license for each Armageddon connection you wish to run simultaneously.

SW1011 2 Mbps LANforge-ICE Software-only License

Licenses are priced depending on the maximum allowed speed. The SW1011 maximum is 2 Mbps. If you wish to provide your own hardware and load LANforge-ICE software on it, then you can just buy software WanLink licenses.

SW1012 45 Mbps LANforge-ICE Software-only License

Licenses are priced depending on the maximum allowed speed. The SW1012 maximum is 45 Mbps. If you wish to provide your own hardware and load LANforge-ICE software on it, then you can just buy software WanLink licenses.

SW1013 155 Mbps LANforge-ICE Software-only License

Licenses are priced depending on the maximum allowed speed. The SW1013 maximum is 155 Mbps.If you wish to provide your own hardware and load LANforge-ICE software on it, then you can just buy software WanLink licenses.

SW1014 1 Gbps LANforge-ICE Software-only License

Licenses are priced depending on the maximum allowed speed. The SW1014 maximum is 1 Gbps. If you wish to provide your own hardware and load LANforge-ICE software on it, then you can just buy software WanLink licenses.

SW1111 LANforge-ICE 10Gbps WanLink Software-only License

Licenses are priced depending on the maximum allowed speed. The SW1111 maximum is 10 Gbps, but most high-end hardware is limitted to around 5Gbps bi-directional flow as of October 2011. If you wish to provide your own hardware and load LANforge-ICE software on it, then you can just buy software WanLink licenses.

SW1020 LANforge-ICE WanPath Software-only License

WanPaths are virtual paths you can set up in LANforge-ICE WanLinks to further constrain traffic between individual machines or subnets. WanPaths can match based on IP addresses (and subnets) or MAC addresses.
